Innerista toolbox: Self-regulation
October 14, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - June 29, 2020 @ 9:00 pm
Individual 2-month long program designed to explore and practice self-regulation using the tools of body psychotherapy (mind + body + emotions + inner wisdom)
Pain is inevitable. Whether it be emotional or physical, frustration or heartache – if you are a healthy human being, you are likely to feel it.
Instead of organising your life trying to avoid pain, it’s wiser and easier to learn how to deal with it.
Self-regulation is the ability to recognise our deeper needs and provide adequate response in a timely manner. This can mean to take a break at work when you need it, to hug someone you love when you need support or to allow yourself to feel sad if your heart is broken.
Not meeting your true needs in the long term leads to various forms of dis-balance and developing behaviours that can bring only temporary relief.
Through 6 individual sessions you will be guided and supported to move:
- From being overwhelmed, anxious or stressed
- To being able to self-regulate yourself by recognising and responding to your needs.
Session 1 is there to understand your specific struggles and needs. Symptoms like food cravings, binge eating, strict rules, constant anxiety, workaholism, financial debts or addictions are important clues, but not the main focus.
Sessions 2 to 5 will provide you with the self-regulation tools and insights, enabling you to practice them in everyday life between sessions.
Session 6 serves as an integration session: to notice the change and impact you made since starting practising self-regulation and to create a strategy, reminders and rituals to keep the process going.
Once you are able to recognise what you really need and to provide adequate (or good enough) response, standard life challenges will impact you less and for a shorter period of time.
